Amanda Velez

Amanda is a Speech Language Pathologist and holds the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University -Kingsville in 2015, and went on to receive her Master’s Degree of Science in Communicative Disorders from Eastern New Mexico University in 2019. Amanda completed her field work in speech therapy doing therapy with children and adults in various settings including home, schools, hospitals, and outpatient clinics. She has experience in articulation, expressive language, receptive language, social skills, AAC, feeding, and swallowing.  She values the importance of a family-centered approach to help children grow their communication skills both inside and outside of their speech therapy sessions. Amanda has 3 years experience specializing in working with children with Autism. She values neurodiversity affirming services and specializes in providing support for AAC, social communication, & gestalt language processing. She has worked at Promise Center for Autism since November of 2024. As the Speech Language Pathologist Amanda provides assessment, diagnosis of speech disorders, treatment, and intervention at Promise. Her main goal is to continue to grow and develop our services focusing on child-led approaches, play based therapy, and functional therapy. She resides in San Antonio with her family and their dog. She loves spending time outdoors, going on runs, and playing with her daughter!
